Project Assistent without PhD

The Centre for South-East European Studies is looking for a

Project Assistent without PhD

(30 hours a week; expected employment for the period of 33 months; position to be filled as of September 1st 2017 )

Your duties

  • Participation in the externally funded collaborative HRSM research project "Migration-Integration-Religious Diversity", attached to the research cluster "Ottoman Islam in its social context".
  • Preparation and completition of a PhD dissertation during the funding period dealing with transnational Islamic networks and mobilities and their impact on Muslims in Austria and/or central Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Germany). Studies on the impact of such networks and mobilities on values, integration, legal perspectives or political mobilisation of Muslims in these countries are of particular interest. Case studies of transnational entanglements with actors and movements from the Western Balkans and Turkey are welcome.
  • The position includes a research residence with the work place partly at the European Academy Bolzano (Italy)

Your profile

  • Complete MA studies in any field of social sciences or the humanities
  • MA thesis or equivalent work on Islam and Muslims in Europe
  • Expert user of German and English, at least intermediate level knowledge of a language spoken in Southeast Europe

Classification

Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1

Minimum salary

The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 2048.30 gross/month. This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
